Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme opens today

UPDATE 22 April: A reminder that the deadline to be sure payment comes through before the end of the month is today (Wed 22 April).

HMRC have produced advice having difficulty accessing the system because they do not have an active PAYE enrolment.

In order to make a claim they will need to:

• have a Government Gateway (GG) ID and password – if they don’t already have a GG account, they can apply here: https://www.gov.uk/log-in-register-hmrc-online-services/register

• be enrolled for PAYE online – if they aren’t registered yet, they can do so here: https://www.gov.uk/paye-online/enrol

The UK Government Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has opened today.  In order to make a claim for payment before 30 April, you will need to complete the process before Wednesday 22 April.

Full guidance on how to make the claim and who is eligible is available at the UK Government website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-for-wage-costs-through-the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme
