Question in Parliament on Broadband and Mobile Coverage

I asked the Minister for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport about UK Government targets for Broadband and Mobile coverage.

Good coverage is vital to keep our economy going and – most importantly – to keep up our connections with our friends and loved ones, however the UK Government’s current target for Scotland could leave many people (mainly in rural areas like parts of East Lothian) without decent broadband or mobile coverage.

The Minister’s answer was shameful – he ignored the question completely and then tried to palm off the issue on a meeting with the Scottish Government. Broadband and Telecoms are reserved. We know this, the minister knows this, and to avoid the question of connectivity in 2020 is simply reckless.

He also tried to blame Scotland’s geography. I’m sorry minister, but if the Faroe Islands can do it, so can you.
