The Immigration Bill is Shameful

I voted against the UK Government’s Immigration Bill last night in a virtual vote in the House of Commons, however due to the Government majority, it passed by a large margin.

This was a shameful action.  This vote puts us on a path which will be hugely damaging to our country, our economy and our society.  We have benefitted as a country over many generations from people choosing to live and work in Scotland, and across these islands.  Overseas workers have been, and continue to be, essential in farming, agriculture and – crucially just now, the social care sector, all of which we recognise as key workers.  All of our key workers need more than applause just now.  They need their rights to be guaranteed, and that includes the right to live and work in Scotland based on their value as fellow humans.

Current and future Scots will suffer from this course of action.
